Interesting observations, and I agree. To me a wide angle isn't for
landscapes, it's for tight spaces. Normal lenses or moderate telephotos are
good for landscapes. Personal taste, of course.

Away from the towns, the 85 seemed to allow very nice landscape
compositions with good detail, whereas the wide angles seemed to overly
miniaturise to the to the extent that detail became insignificant.
