Hello,
I just subscribed to the list and please, forgive me for the many questions
I have.
I have been using OM1MD for three years, but last year's trip to New England
proved to me
that two cameras are better than one.
The camera I like is OM 4Ti, but also have interest in digital photography,
so had to make a
compromise. It just did not feel right to spend the money on a film camera.
In my rough
estimation in about two years there will be an affordable camera with enough
pixels and
features I desire. Will look at Oly first since am accustomed to the quality(no
heresy here..)
In the process I made an odd choice which I know will raise eyebrows. I bought
an OM PC as a
second camera. Liked the ESP and the authomatic feature which I wish to use
from time to
time, since I like to think a little before picturetaking(have to improve the
thinking process
though...)
My first question to the list is:
In my search, on some of the sites OM PC was in the professional line, on others
was equated to
the "number marked ones"(10,20,30). What do you think which one is it?
I would also like to know why some photographers prefer cameras with manual
controlled
shutters.
In response to a previous mail I might say that will recommend OM 1 for the
student instead of
K1000, because of its greater versatility. OM 10 will be O.K but with the manual
adaptor. I have
looked through the viewfinder of K1000 only once and it seemed to me very dark
which will be a
disadvantage in lowlight conditions. Also during the last years of
manufacturing,
this camera
was made in China and have heard about a lot of reliability complaints. For
some reason the
older ones tend to be abused.
I apologize if these topics are not new to you, but did not find them in the
archives.
Thanks in advance.
