LOL. I reserve the right to change the data or my conclusions, esp.
when I have additional lens samples or experience with more Zuikos.

The quoted grades:

Aperture Centre Corner
f3.5 C+ C
f5.6 B A-
f8 A- A
f11 B+ B
f16 B+ B

are for 28mm f/3.5 lens that was dropped! It is evidence that a bent
filter rim might very well cause a deterioration in performance. Based
on this test I chuckle at all the eBay descriptions that say something
like: "rim bent, but I pulled it back - no effect on optical quality,
just a cosmetic blemish."

To me, a lens with a bent filter rim is no better than an 8 (KEH=BGN),
and it is an iffy proposition to buy one without testing against a
undamaged sample.

As for my original wording that the 28mm f/3.5 was a dog, well, I guess
the one I used for so many years was a dog, as was the bent rim one. But
upon resampling a nice condition one, it wasn't so bad and I dropped the
disparaging language. Sorry for the confusion.
