The wides are the lenses I tend to use the most. I love the 24mm focal
length so much I have three Zuikos (SC/2.8, MC/2.8 and MC/2.0). They're
all outstanding lenses. In 28mm, I use the 28/2.8 the most, though I also
have the 28/3.5 (which now lives at f/8 :-), and used to have the 28/2.0
which is also great.
Distortion ? Get a good grasp of perspective. One can create a lot of
it with a 50mm and a little DOF. Wide angles betray the inept usually
via one simple oversight: Lack of attention to the foreground. This
explains the popularity of the panoramic format, which simply excises
this problem from one's visual field.
I use lenses down to 17mm with my OM's, and find them very useful.
Used wisely, they give a grand sense of spatial volume to one's images.
28 vs. 24 ? Buy both, you won't regret it.
