Hi Joel:
The OM-2S has center bottom-weighted metering in averaging mode.
I typically meter [in landscapes] a spot that has highlights and shadows
*evenly* distributed in it. That is equal to averaging two spot readings: one
from the brightest highlight in which you want detail and the other the
deepest shadow in which you want detail. If the scene is really contrasty,
you will want to do those two spot readings to see if they are more than 5
stops apart - in which case it exceeds a slide films capacity to render
details in both at the same time.
