My experience with flatbed film scanning was with an old Epson, top of the line
for its day, but even with expensive aftermarket film holders the results were
unusable. If I hit the powerball, i would buy one of the flextights.

Ah, I could do that on my Canon 5000F flatbed. I've done 6x6, 6x9 and 4x5" and
been happy with the results. The 5000F
is, of course, also a dinosaur.
What about the Epson flatbeds? As I recall, they make two models each of two
different illumination cover sizes. No,
they won't match true film scanners like your Minoltas. OTOH, all but the
latest films and unusual film flatness for 6
cm roll film won't exceed their abilities, I think.
I seem to recall that I concluded anything over 600 DPI was overkill for my old
MF stuff.

What if the Hokey Pokey *IS* what it's all about?
