I know that stretch of city highway, have driven there numerous times
and know that a later in the day landing would have caused chaos.

I was wondering just that. Would the pilot have to hire a couple of flag people
to close down the roadway for the length, duration and timing of the take off ?

Hmm, I wouldn't trust our private pilots to do their flying properly, let alone
check that the road was clear before starting their takeoff roll.

In Alaska, it is legal to use roads as runways. Pictured is beautiful
1956 Cessna 182 parked near the Parks Highway. This is right across
the river from Denali.
Unfortunately, my trip up to Denali wasn't too photographically
interesting. It rained and snowed the entire time and visibility was
about a mile. So, no mountain today.
