If that doesnt do the trick then just unscrew and remove bottom cover
with battery cover attached

The battery compartment cover is stuck, so I put a couple of drops of

other coins are too narrow or and/or the wrong radius to fit closely.
I think the shutter is totally electronic so batts should be checked
I learned about that a few minutes ago by way of a Pentax users
group. Turned it to both MANUAL and 125X, but the mirror remains up.
Could it be that the batteries are dead?
are you pressing the white release button? (from vague memory)
I managed to come away from a Goodwill store yesterday with a
very clean Pentax ME Super body for just $5.00. The curtain is open
and the mirror is in the up position but not stuck, and the mode
selector is in the AUTO position. I understand from a Pentax forum
that this happens occasionally and you need to put the mode selector
in the MANUAL or 125X position. But I can't seem to rotate the mode
selector and I don't want to force it.
