I think flickr could be used as an alternative... they do have storage
limits. you can do key-wording there and have most of your material set to
private so only you can use it. its a shame picasa has downgraded to the
google photos that it is now =(

Thanks Scott. I do remember digkam being mentioned but not by whom. I
think that I'll go for it. Just finished hours on the phone with
Microsoft tech support to resolve some issues and I think they are
licked. Now is a good time.
