Not sure if your aversion to LR is simply to the subscription model, Mike.
If so, keep in mind that you can still buy LR outright.
Sorry, can't help with DigiKam or any other alternatives, other than to
suggest MS Access, though with tongue in cheek. It should do a good job of
the database requirement (and indeed, LR under the hood uses SQL, if I
recall aright)

float my boat. Nor do I use PS much. So what are my options for a
