Driving is time consuming - trains allow you to read, talk to people, get some
rest, and pollute less, etc.
Same reason that I like our ferry. Even at 18kts vs. 280kph. Traffic here in
the PacNW is as bad as the worst in the country. I breathe a sigh of relief
when we get in line at the ferry terminal. Eat, sleep, read, visit with
friends. the civilized way to travel.
