I recently bought a Fujinon 35/2 lens. I was surprised to see that the
lens box contained an Owner's Manual that was 1/4 inch thick. On closer
examination, it turned out to be an 8-page manual (English), printed in
17 languages. :-)

The English language manual does not contain the word "language" and a
perusal of the menu options has nothing that would help.
Guess you just have to learn Japanese?
... or, gasp, switch to a contemporary superzoom.
