Fwiw- I use the same security blanket on eyecups that I use on rf optical

A short piece of fishing line, noose on one end to secure the base an a
fishing snap swivel on the other. Hook it to your sling ring.

I wonder what's different about how we use our cameras. I also have the
deep cup for my E-M5. I don't remember the circumstances but it did come
off once. Fortunately, I saw it fall off and didn't lose it. Although it
hasn't fallen off again the E-M5 sees a lot less usage since the E-M1
arrived.
The E-M1's cup has never fallen off. It's the standard cup. It's much
deeper than the standard E-M5 cup but not as deep as the optional E-M5
cup. I find it adequate for blocking extraneous light and haven't
considered getting the optional cup.
I'm surprised that I haven't had more trouble. I typically walk around
with the camera swinging back and forth across my ample belly. I would
think that's the perfect scenario to lose the cup. But it hasn't happened.

I love my E-M5.
I absolutely detest the stupid design of the eyecups. I just realized
that I lost the deep one I bought because the shallow ones keep
falling apart. It popped off the camera some time during the event
tonight, and I can't find it anywhere.
Sigh. Guess I have to buy the FOURTH eyecup for this thing. I want to
meet the Olympus engineer who designed them and make him give me a
case. For free.
