Wow! There's no question about the color is there. On a slightly
related note I've been surprised to see the South Carolina maples
changing color not too much behind their northern brethren. That
despite the fact that the coldest night so far was about 48F and didn't
last long. The trees must also respond to the length of day or perhaps
that's the primary driver.
