That was my feeling, as well. A modern version of the 190, with a new
engine to replace the shaky Jake. I noted the end plates on the
stabilizer, as well. I assume these were necessary to augment the
vertical fin once the additional hp was added.

Instead of the 180/185, it looks more like a 190 with a tail bolted on
from another airplane. That rectangle rudder has "flutter" written all
over it. I wonder how they addressed that. Other than keeping the
airplane below Mach 1, of course.

Hi Ken,
Yeah, it caught my eye from a long way across the ramp. The engine is
interesting. It is a well proven Russian design, in wide use for 30 years,
now manufactured in Romania in the only plant in the world currently
producing radial engines. It can be had in 350 and 400 hp, depending on the
supercharging. Apparently there is also a Pitts aerobatic design that also
uses the engine, though I've never seen one.

We have an AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Assn) flyin this weekend.
Airplanes are beginning to appear. Tonight after dinner, I stopped by to
see what was new and discovered we had a Moose in our midst. It is a
beautiful kit-built all-metal design which makes a great impression.
This
Moose is based in Georgia.
What a fascinating airplane. It looks like it's a cross between a
Stinson, a Beaver and Pilatus, Maybe a little Cessna 180 or 185 thrown
in for good measure.
