Lots of good advice here, but if it were me I'd spend $15-$20 on a
multi-port unmanaged switch and just plug the thing into my existing
connection/router/whatever. No/zero/bupkis configuration hassles. :-) If I
needed remote or additional wireless signal, a wireless *access point* can
be had for about the same price and hung from the end of a cable attached
to one of the switch ports. Address the AP using one the 255 available
LAN-side addresses, and you're good to go.
Benefits:
1) Easy
2) Inexpensive
3) No addressing or address translation issues from the switch to make
troubleshooting difficult
4) Did I mention Easy?
