Gary Reese's lens tests reproduced on Zone10,show the resolution better for the
OM180mm versus the 200mm canon.
Not clear which version of Canon was tested.
He notes contrast was lower on canon wide open.
The later 7 element IF version likely had better resolution than earlier
versions with 5 elements.

Interesting comparing lenses of same vintage from Nikon and Canon.
Seems the Nikon 180mm f2.8 gets the nod, but the later version of Canon's 200mm
FD mount has internal focus and is also pretty good.
Apparently they both also have high CA like Zuiko.
The IF is reputed to make the CA a little worse in the Canon, but the design was
a major makeover from the earlier version so hard to know if i was just the
increase in # of elements.
The Canon Fdn 200mm lens seems to be a little cheaper used, than both Nikon or
OM, as there were tons made.

Since I use only stopped down mode with A7, (EVF makes up for any drop in
brightness stopped down) The impact of shutdown mechanism on lens sharpness
goes away completely for improved results.

Good question ... I simply don't know.
ESIF doesn't tell enough.
But Gary Reese tells his results with the 1.4X-A were better than
expected than *without* the 1.4 - "SQF grades exceed those without
teleconverter due to use of a lens support. Without additional lens
support, the shutter and auto diaphram mechanisms in the OM-1n test
camera probably induced harmonic vibrations which impaired image
quality."
