How can you shoot RAW BW with these?
We've had a 400, 410, 510 and 620 none of which did shoot RAW BW for all I
know???

HQ, did you mean high quality JPEGS? SQ = standard quality JPEGs? these have
nothing whatsoever to do with the balance of colours in a BW conversion.
Well, from my experience, no on-board JPEG is ever a match to what you can get
by yourself, painstakingly sometimes I admit, from a RAW file properly
converted to your taste - in spite of their excellent reputation even the fuji
JPEGs are inferior to well processed raws.
Now, even the RAW file is affected by a glass filter. A yellow glass filter
will dye your file in yellow, modifying contrast in the process. From there,
restore the proper WB and you've already made some progress. Turn the file to
BW. Finally adjust the other channels to taste and you're nearly there ;-)
For your complete information, the process works (better?) without a glass
filter ;-)
Just use the raw file as is. And play with the sliders, including the two
channels of the WB.
Hope this helps.
