I've done it again, this time a book with 80 images of Mt. Desert Island, including

Very nice. I haven’t been up there in a while. Must rectify that this spring.

A lovely place, but not too shabby where you are, either. :-)

My intention is to show mostly things that aren't on the main tourist list of
'must sees', including many intimate details and less commonly seen scenics
that are so much a part of my enjoyment of the Island. Sort of an anti-usual
subjects book.
Score. What I was thinking as I paged through before reading the rest of your
post.

Oh, goodie!

Only one iconic subject, the arched bridge in Soamesville. I've heard that it is the
most (or one of the most?), photographed thing there. But I can’t believe it,
considering it's on the Quiet Side, far from the hordes of folks on buses taking
uncountable shots on the park loop road.
The shop I used to sell in down Southwest Harbor way has a single image of that
bridge, taken in winter and festooned with snow and red bows, that has been selling
well for many, many years. If there’s an image that illustrates the Quiet Side,
the Soamesville Bridge is it.

Yup, you don't drive under it, but it's a gateway, all the same.

I think only 3-4 images have been posted here before. The cover is one that has
had Bob gnashing his teeth on occasion. It's OK, Bob, I've been past that spot
many times since, and never come close to that particular combination of light,
clouds, tide, etc. again. Sheer luck. I have included a panorama which gives a
wider view, taken only a few minutes later.
Had to put that one in, didn’t you? Arrrggg!

Sorry dood, it hadda be there. I ain't got as many knockout images as you do.
;-)

One of these years I’m gonna get a camping spot close by the Bass Harbor Marsh, and
I’m going to stay there until I get the shot I want.

One of those places that's always pretty to be/look at, but hard to capture in a photograph. The panorama, shot only minutes later, is quite nice, but it had already changed a little toward ordinary.
