And your point is?  It sounds like you are trying for a 'gotcha', but I'm not 
buying.

RAW is also less than 16 bit (14, mostly, for newer cameras), one color channel 
per pixel and linear luminance. The 
whole point of a RAW is to translate that "RAW" data into a usefully accurate 
file with three color channels per pixel, 
viewable gamma and defined color space.

And one of the major points of shooting RAW is that it leaves open the 
opportunity to make that translation differently 
than the internal JPEG engine/converter. With those cameras systems I'm closely 
familiar with, Canon and Oly µ4/3, the 
RAW converters they provide are designed to duplicate the look of their in 
camera processing. In both cases, I've 
compared default outputs to default outputs of ACR, and prefer ACR (esp for the 
top end of highlights).

I don't know about Panny µ4/3, as I have no interest in trying SlikyPix.
