Well, TECHNICALLY, it should be "Ag", not "AG" as it is the elemental
code for silver. However, preferred usage would be "AG" by the
individual informally known as AG Schnozz. The term "Schnozz" is
colloquial for "nose". It harkens back to the days when 100% of my
lenses were described as such. Not so much, these days, but I'm fully
convinced that they look better and work better.
(Yes, I believe they work better. The old lenses tend to not have the
sticky blades and black flakes inside the lenses like the newer lenses
do. Also, in some specific examples, the older lenses use a different
design formula and are sharper in the center as well as having a
slight color cast and reduced contrast which are better for B&W
photography).
