I have tried those type of adapters on a couple of old laptops. I can make the
card a bootable disk, and mount the
adapter in the computers, but they would not boot from it. I never went on to
clone the existing drive, as it seemed
pointless when even a simple DOS boot disk configuration would not work.
It may all be highly dependent on the BIOS of the laptop.
