I've been wondering how long it would take for someone to do this:

An interesting piece of history has to do with a clathrate crater in the
North Sea known as Witch Hole. There's a 100-year-old fishing trawler sitting
upright in the middle of it, and theory has it that when the clathrate bubble
burst it rose to the surface right beneath the trawler, reducing the bouyancy
of the water and swallowing the trawler whole in a moment of time.
Climatologists have been deeply concerened with the clathrates in the
continental shelf off the US eastern seaboard. If the temperature of the Gulf
Stream rises another 2C, a tremendous amount of methane could be released into
the atmosphere, which would accelerate the rate of atmospheric warming due to
greenhouse gases, and methane is far more damaging than carbon dioxide.
