Makes you wonder about the Bermuda Triangle as the Sargaso Sea is nearby.
The Sargaso seaweed that dies sinks to the ocean bottom, where it will decay
under intense pressure and produce the same strata of frozen methane. A large
bubble of that methane rising to the surface and then into the atmosphere could
easily be ignited under the right circumstances, such as an airplane flying
through it a low altitude where the concentration would be highest.
