Back on my grumpy 90/2 soapbox. Did they perchance try as close focal distances?
A 90/2.5 Tamron or 105/2.8 Kiron smoked my 90/2 closer than about 1:4.
If it just didn't say 'Macro', I wouldn't complain. The 50/3.5, 80/4 and
135/4.5 (and others I haven't tried) are real
macros, the 90/2, nope.
I was on a macro kick when I bought it, even running about outside with 135/4.5
on a bellows hand held. The 90/2 didn't
fit in. It needed a different play group. :-)
