Nice piece of engineering Chuck,
I do not understand the reason of the "wings" on the wheel though. Nice for
the optic, but cannot see the need.

While on the subject of unusual transport methods I had a good time
seeing the Falkirk Wheel while in Scotland. The ladies thought it was
interesting but otherwise ho-hum. We men folk marveled at the
engineering. It's a substitute for what would otherwise have to be an
extensive series of locks to be able to lift canal boats to such a
height. <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n61KUGDWz2A>

stayed on with his father as a foot passenger. My daughter had to drive the
car to the far side (on his instructions) so that he and dad could cross
back in the car. He has not stopped talking about it!
