I'm surprised you don't like Ctein's book. I also have Katrin Eismann's
book (which is excellent) but I consider it a less complete work than
Ctein's. I reference both of them when doing restoration.
I have both versions of Ctein's book but highly recommend version 1 over
version 2. I think there is little extra content in version 2 and it
appears to have been done to reduce the publisher's cost. There are
fewer pages in version 2 which I think it primarily due to reduced type
size which makes it harder for me to read. If you only have version 2
spring for a used copy of version 1. You may prefer it.
