What I am hearing is:

I got a nephew who needs a camera.  I am also a prankster, so you guyses are 
gonna help me pick the camera to torture him with...:)

Seriously, from what I hear, hell end up being like one of those Minolta X700 
owners who bought the camera when really needed a p&s...

There are several offerings on the market that he would enjoy using not only 
for work, but also in real life, for example:

Sony's range of compacts

Also, couple of years ago when I was debating what camera to get for a back up,

It is a fantastic camera.
