On one of my computers I do have a program that converts audio to
notation. At the moment I cannot remember what it is called, but it
actually works pretty well on some stuff. I have the LINUX version.
However, an orchestra recording is a bit tough because there are so
many interacting harmonics going on which create phantom notes. Also,
when you have a melody note with a harmonizing note 1/3 up, you get a
phantom note.
No free lunches.
As to the University of Iowa, I do believe that this list is
represented by two individuals from there.
