Thanks for your comments, and you're right, on both counts, Moose. But I
hadn't realised that I would like the jpg result.
I'm almost tempted to use only jpgs from the E-3: my main reason for using RAW
is that I might ruin the jpgs with too much fettling, but of course that's a
throwback to the way I used to process images -- in PS. Now that I use
Aperture or LightZone that problem does not apply.
And yes, reducing the halo would be a pleasing result, but I was only trying
out the system and I quite liked the way it "closed" the picture over the main
subject. And the slight strangeness of the colours was intentional as well.
But, as we have discussed before, a well-exposed shot is normally more pleasing
than a composite.
