OK, I'm not a Mac basher. But I have been known to comment when their
reputation (Aura?) doesn't match reality.
The interface is supposed to be intuitive. Yet if someone not in on the tricks
(jokes?) does the intuitive thing, you
make fun of them.
Let's see. I've got a word processor open, I've printed and saved the document,
and want to quit the app. Intuitively,
the red button in the corner looks like it may be the off button. I click it,
and the word processor disappears.
Why would I NOT think it has been closed??
Oh yeah, I get it now! It has a hide me button, but not a close button - sure,
that makes sense. Rock 'n Roll
Any Mac interface defender who claims that it should take something more than a
single mouse click to close an app gets
to sit in the corner and drink more of the kool-aid. The great promise of the
original Mac interface (Yes, I've used
one.) was that single clicks and drag and drop were all you needed to do your
work.
