I think Scott's point is that sometimes, clicking the red button *does* close
the application, as in System Preferences, whereas in most cases, it does not,
leaving the application running with no windows open.
I wish I had a dime for every time I went to a Mac that a Windows user had been
using, and found a dozen applications open, none of them with any windows open!
