Thanks for pointing out the dark spot. When I took a quick look at the
picture I missed it. The Tamron focuses to less than 6'. It probably also
has it but the closest I've focused was to the middle of a pond. I didn't
see a problem at about 20'.

I love it! The mirror lens did do that thing where you got a little
dark dot in the center when the lens is focused close.
One of the little things I used to do with my Series-1 600mm was to
put a ton of extension tubes behind it and try doing macro. Nearly
everything turned out garbage, but I think there were two or three
cool shots I did manage to get. I'll have to go dig those out.
