Well, yesterday's Digest at 116kb was well up on the previous one of 35KB.
But quite a bit of repetition, and this

A few days ago somebody (Ken?) in discussing Nathan's interesting regional
/ geographical postings / images raised the topic of Starbucks coffee.
Starbucks reached New Zealand about ? 5 years ago. Prior to that, Wendy's
bagos arrived and set up shop near the central Square of Christchurch. They
were gone within a year; I'm not surprised as bagoes were unknown and I
seldom saw anybody in the shop. I wondered if the brand ??Subterrranean?
?Sublime? - Ah I have it - "Subway" showed up all over the place, and I
wondered if it would have the same fate. Then one day on my long commute
I tried it in Geraldine, and found the quality of their food to be tasty and
good
value.
So one day in Riccarton I was passing Starbucks, and closing my nose to
the smell of burnt coffee, went in and ordered one. I regretted it. For the
first
time in my life I left a coffee place with most of the drink still unused. What
passed for coffee was undrinkable to my palate; bitter, no aroma, too strong,
and seemingly burned. I wondered at the fortitude of those who stayed to
drink.
The liquid reminded me of a coffee I ordered once in Les Vosges (France) - I
have forgotten the name of the town. It arrived in a very small cup; no sugar,
no milk, also very strong and bitter. With some difficulty I drank it - not to
be
repeated there ...
My camera was a Practica FX, later to be stolen, which soured me from
photography for ages until I did acquire a Contaflex which was good value for
several years, until an Exakta came my way with interchangeable lenses
once more.
