For the first time, I now have a serious camera that does not have a PC
socket. Much to my dismay, the L1 is PC-socket free.
No big deal you ask?
Hardly. It means that I can't use the wireless flash triggers along side the
built-in flash, and it also means that if I'm going to use the T45, I have
to use a hot-shoe adapter or the wireless trigger. I can't even use a
Vivitar 285HV off-camera without adapters.
Excuse my shouting here, but even Minolta got this right on the A1 as they
placed a PC socket on that camera. Granted, Minolta (Konica-Minolta, Sony)
uses that non-standard hot-shoe design, but for crying out loud, at least
they understood that somebody MIGHT want to use external non-dedicated
flashes.
This is why I trash-talked the Olympus E-P1 because they didn't include ANY
means to trigger a flash with a viewfinder installed. That, my friends, is a
sign that somebody just doesn't get it.
