I've taken about 10000 shots with the E-3. How many do you think were
spoiled because of pattern noise and banding? Let's put it this way:

OK, probably not. And I am embarrassed to say that until you
mentioned it some weeks ago, I had never noticed it until I examined a
shot taken at night at ISO 3200 that was probably several stops
underexposed even at that. I discovered it when I tried to bring up
the shadows, which were otherwise solid black. I still like the shot
because of its comic qualities (mainly the subject-matter, but the
noise actually adds something fun in a lomo way), but I cannot
envision a setting in which I was engaged in actual photography in
which it would be a factor. Admittedly, I shoot mainly in good light.
Or even just light. :)
