A little googling found this at the site for Mercy hospitals

Antibiotic Therapy
During the first 8 weeks after your stent placement, you may need
antibiotics before any dental work, certain tests, or operations. Let
all your doctors and dentist know you have a stent.

On joint replacement I found this
<http://orthopedics.about.com/od/hipkneereplacement/f/antibiotics.htm>
which says antibiotics for the first two years. My surgeon hasn't
mentioned this that I recall.
