Many but not all zoom lenses defocus slightly with zooming, I
understand. Enough to be a problem?
Also it would be awkward without a lens ring handle - like the focus
handle-grip made for MF SLRs like 'blad and Kowa. Often wondered why
no-one made these for smaller lenses - works well on tiny lenses like
Voigt. rangefinder lenses.
In fact, to use a 5D2 seriously for movie work, I'd want something
that provided movie cam style handling like a grip frame with mike and
light mounts plus focus and zoom handles, screen hood, etc. Frankly,
it's a bloody awkward camera for moving pictures, even on a tripod,
for all but static studio shooting.
