The E-1's shutter release is buttery smooth with nary a notch. Some buttons when you press them have distinctly stiff half-press positions and to go to full-press is initially firm then it suddenly gives. This is a notoriously evil cause of camera shake with some cameras. I love the way I can squeeze out a shot with the E-1. The OM bodies are similar, but that mirror slap is evil with some focal-length and shutter-speed combinations.
