I have waited a few days, hoping those facing a "proceedure" are under now,
but if not, don't read this.
I have a friend that was driving down the street one afternoon and felt as
if he were having heart problems. As he drove past an area hospital, he
pulled in for a check. They were alarmed to find that he was on the way to a
massive and almost certainly fatal heart attack. It was determined that all
arteries supplying blood to the heart were only capable of supplying fat and
alcohol, a regular part of his diet. Multiple bypasses were performed.
As he was returning to consciousness after, the staff was concerned by his
impared speech. A neurological consult was called immediately. After what
proved to be too little consideration, the neurologist determined that he
was having a stroke, and large doses of coumiden were administered. He began
to leak like a cheap garden hose. Blood was coming from everywhere,
especially the various incisions. After some time and several tranfusions,
it was determined that he was in no way having a stroke, but instead had
been given too much morphine, hence the scrambled speech. He was to remain
in the hospital one whole month.
A musician friend commented that the hospital should have a staff jazz
musician, who could have seen right away that "...the m-f-er is high!"
