No, I have not overlooked this fact, which is true for many SLR cameras... 
Yet synchronization can be better than 1/60.  Theoretically, it could be as 
good as 1/1000.  If the shutters are activated at exactly the same instant, 
then the slits will travel parallel and synchronization can be achieved even 
at 1/1000.
