Mike,
Reading your posting I started to doubt if you were right about the
60Cx. I checked with my machine (it is a 60CSx, perhaps that makes the
difference) and I was right: it lets you set tracking to auto as well.
About the memory you do not need to be worried: you can have the
machine write all the tracks not only to internal memory (where it is
limited to 10k points) but also to the micro SD card. I use 2 GB
cards, so I can record zillion of waypoints there... If I did my
estimating maths well, 1 GB of card memory will hold over 2000 hours
of tracks recorded at 1 sec intervals.... I will never burn through
that (and I have extra cards when I do!)

BTW, Geosetter seems a nice program for manual insertion or change of
