Wow. This is a collection of some of the saddest stories I've ever heard.
Again, mine has been flawless.
I must say that I print B&W in a proper darkroom, so kno't know about that
part, but the color prints are perfect. I use the Ilford and Harman fiber
papers and Kodak gloss paper.
There is one thing that is just totally wrong, though. The printer shipped
with a photoshop plug-in for printing that worked quite well, and I think
was part of the secret to good color. It is for CS2 only, and ther eis no
plan to develpp one for CS3 or 4. I emailed HP support about this when I
upgraded to 4, but was told that they had no plans for 3 or 4 support. What
the hell are they thinking. What a screwed up company.
Still like the printer, though.
