I decided a while ago to stop letting rules get in the way of a good
photograph. For instance, this nonsense about pixel-density in a display
print. Phooey. Specifications and calculations are the refuge of the of
that which is otherwise weak.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and really risk the wrath of the list's
"cooler heads will prevail crowd", but I was essentially appalled at the
images that MR at LL produced with his 60+ megapixel digital camera from his
trip out west. I'm sure technically they were mighty fine, but honestly, I
have to say that the composition or "worth" of the photographs were less
than impressive. Those were not worthy photographs from a compositional
perspective. I wouldn't want one on my walls--I've thrown away images
better than that.
But, I'm sure you can make out every grain of sand in the photographs.
