It's a bit like testing a fuse!
When I was an EE back in the '70's (guess I'm still one technically) we had
a box in the lab for testing fuses.
On top of the box was almost every known size and shape of fuseholder. And
a press button and a red and green lamp. You put in the suspect fuse,
pressed the button, and one or the other lamps lit.
Red was labeled 'Fuse was dead'.
Green was labeled 'Fuse was ok' :-)
Yes, inside was a power supply, a huge electrolytic capacitor, and a
latching relay. (showing my age)
