Och, nothing really works. Fiona always asks for the truth, but of
course she doesn't mean it. That's what I give her anyway, and she
doesn't believe it.
She usually does the opposite to anything I suggest, I've really given
up trying to influence her. I've perfected a flat tone, blank expression
response mode to all questions relating to fashion purchases.
I do go into the shops; unless they're 'trendy boutiques', which are
usually tiny, overstocked and crawling with mad, painted savages
teetering on stilts. I get panic attacks in enclosed spaces with lots of
people so I stay outside.
Thanks be for online shopping. Now she can order and send back at will,
and I can give my stock response from behind the laptop without lifting
my head...
