Since some members picked the SCSI issue up here is what is going on with me.

A couple of years ago I had a computer go to heck from some failure of either
a powersupply, harddrive, or motherboard which took the other two out. In
order to have a computer I gatheres parts I had and build another computer.
The SCSI card I'm talking about came from the original computer. It was
installed in this computer when I built it. Even though it was in the
computer I never hooked either of my scanners up to it.

When I tried to use the card a few weeks ago I can't get either operating
system to find the card (Adaptec 2906 card, Windows 98se or SUSE LINUX 10.0)
without anything attached to the card. My solution was to go to eb*y and buy
a card. What I ended up with was an Adaptec 2940u/uw. I bought it because the
auction was about to end and it was $2. The shipping was much more. The 2940u
has 60 pin connectors and the cabling I have is 50 pin centronics on one end
and 25 pin D on the other. It looks like a fat parallel printer cable.

Now I need to figure out what I'm going to do.

1) I can determine if and how I can hook my Poloroid SS4000 (I also have a
microtek E6)to the 2940 card. Preliminary sense is that I can easily spend
more on cables and adaptors than I would buying a 2906 card from eb*y

2)I can buy a used 2906 card which I know will work with my scanners. This is
the solution that I'm leaning toward because it looks like there are cards on
ebay going for next to nothing.

Advice is welcome. Are any of these cards MAC or PC only. I believe some are.

The other problem I have is that my SS4000 has become very dusty inside. I've
taken it apart a ways at one time but I couldn't get at all the optical path.
Has anyone evet taken one of these scanner all the way apart to clean it.

Thanks every one. -Doug
