I assume the 5000 would be the better option because it accepts the slide
stack loader? I looked at one for my 4000, but baulked at the price, and
went without. It is surprisingly easy to load-unload-reload single slides
into the N1kon scanners, and once the rhythm was established, I found that
scanning 100 or so slides was no great hassle. Though I have no experience
with the Epson flatbed, I suspect that the ergonomics of load-unload-reload
for a batch will actually be worse than doing them all singly!

The only problem with the Nikon V is that it accepts only one slide at a
time, and I want also to scan a lot of older slides. Price aside, a 5000
would be a better option for me, but it is costly, so this is the reason for
the Epson that can do a batch of 12 mounted slides.
