Hi Scott,

On that note, I've noticed CD's I burnt back in 1994-1999 are all
still 100% readable, I used Yamaha and Verbatim CD's back then,
and a Yamaha CD burner.
Late last year I did a comparision, the newer Sony DVD writers
consume about 1/5 the power of my two old Yamaha SCSI CD
burners, and I suspect the pits produced by the exploding dye
in the media are not as deep as when done on the old Yamaha's.
I still use both my old Yamaha burners as the CD's I write on
the Sony have the odd hickup in the car CD player, were as
the ones burnt in the Yamaha's play flawlessly !
The above is pure speculation but it fits what I have noticed
over the years.
(I use CDRecord to burn CD and DVD's)
Cheers
