Yes, you know the history strictly from an IBM point of view. Reality
is richer: OS/2 was derived from PC DOS, in fact it was a protected
mode DOS with Presentation Manager.
But also, the same was valid for MS Windows NT, as a derivative from
OS/2 NT which never saw the light of the day. So even before MS
jumped from the OS/2 ship, MS had a stake on OS/2.
I can still remember the videos of Gates saying MS thought the OS of
the future was OS/2.
